Mikveh Construction & Renovation

Over the years, the need has grown for building new mikvaot in the Land of Israel, and for proper upkeep of existing ones. Sadly, many communities still have no mikveh at all. In others — thanks to the wave of teshuvah flourishing, baruch Hashem, in the Land of Israel in recent years — the number of mikvaot no longer meets the ever-growing demand.

At the same time, veteran mikvaot built decades ago require massive renovation and rehabilitation in order to meet the required standards of kashrut, service and quality. More than once, aging mikvaot bearing the marks of time have been shut down under closure orders and usage bans, due to severe defects and problems.

To this end works the construction division of Merkaz HaTahara, which sets before its eyes the goal of establishing mikvaot at a proper, upgraded standard, as befits this important mitzvah. The construction division does not compromise on halachic stringencies or on building quality, alongside insistence on a high standard of design and care for the building and its surroundings.

Building a mikveh that meets these exacting quality benchmarks of Merkaz HaTahara requires many steps: locating a suitable site, obtaining the authorities' approvals, comprehensive planning and development, infrastructure, and full implementation of all the halachic details and stringencies set by the rabbanim of the center.

These efforts bear fruit. Reality proves that in every community where a new mikveh has been built, or an existing one renovated to rigorous standards, the number of women immersing grows markedly — at times the mikveh has even doubled its activity.

Thus taharah grows and multiplies in the Land of Israel.
